Arrow of Light (5th Grade)

Arrow of Light is for scouts who have completed 4th grade and prepares them to join a Scouts BSA troop while learning outdoors skills.

A well-run group of Arrow of Lights is a gradual change from being an ‘adult-run’ den to being a ‘scout-run’ patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop. This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity.

Arrow of Light Leader:
Every Arrow of Light Den is required to have a registered den leader whose responsibilities include:

  1. Work directly with other den leaders to ensure that their den is an active and successful part of the pack.
  2. Coordinate leadership among the Arrow of Light den scouts, ensuring that den meetings and outings are planned, prepared for, and conducted by all scouts on a rotating basis, and that the den activities provide advancement opportunities for the scouts in the den.
  3. Attend committee meetings.
  4. Lead the den at meetings and pack activities.
  5. Ensure the transition of scouts in the Arrow of Light den into a Boy scout troop at the end of the year.

Arrow of Light Uniform

The uniform is integral to the Scouting program. It identifies the scouts and adults with Arrow of Lights and gives them a sense of belonging to the den, the pack, and the Boy Scouts of America. The uniform distinguishes Arrow of Lights from other Cub Scouts. Scouts and leaders should wear it to all den meetings, pack meetings, and special pack activities.

The pack provides each NEW scout with one class B t-shirt uniform. We wear these to help identify the group when we are out doing physical activities in our community.  We encourage our families to pick up a class B for everyone in the family.
