Wolves (2nd grade)

If a Cub Scout has completed the first grade (or is 8 years old) they may start earning the Wolf rank. The pack will provide each scout with a Wolf Scout handbook.  The scout will then need their Wolf neckerchief, and Wolf neckerchief slide when beginning the Wolf portion of the boy scout trail. They will also need the blue Cub Scout Uniform.

As the Tiger program was completely family oriented, so the Wolf program relies heavily on family involvement. You will see this gradually change with the scout doing more with their den and more individual direction as they reach Webelos and Scouts BSA.

Wolf Den Leader:
Every Wolf Den is required to have a registered den leader whose responsibilities include:

  1. Work directly with other den leaders to ensure that their den is an active and successful part of the pack.
  2. Coordinate shared leadership among the Wolf Scout adult partners and scouts, ensuring that den meetings and outings are planned, prepared for, and conducted by all adult partners on a rotating basis, and that the den activities provide advancement opportunities for the scouts in the den.
  3. Attend committee meetings.
  4. Lead the den at meetings and pack activities.
  5. Ensure the transition of the scouts in the Wolf den into a Bear den at the end of the year.

Wolf Uniform

The uniform is an important part of the Scouting program. It identifies the scouts and adults with Wolf Scouts and gives them a sense of belonging to the den, the pack, and the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts enjoy wearing their Wolf Scout uniform. They should wear it to all den meetings, pack meetings, and special pack activities.

The current uniform is the official blue Cub Scout shirt with blue/yellow Wolf neckerchief and Wolf neckerchief slide. The official Wolf Scout cap and blue web belt with a Wolf Scout buckle are optional.

The pack provides each NEW scout with one class B t-shirt uniform. We wear these to help identify the group when we are out doing physical activities in our community.  We encourage our families to pick up a class B for everyone in the family.
